Cancer Central is a new and growing digital platform providing a central source of information for those affected by cancer and those who care for them. Whatever your questions or needs, we aim to signpost businesses, services and charities - locally, nationally and online - who can offer the advice and support you need. We are at the start of this journey and, over time, will become the go-to place to find cancer support, with your help.
Support includes but is not limited to, benefits advice, insurance products, counselling, complementary therapy, respite care, hats, wigs, lingerie, skincare, financial help, nutrition advice, local societies or communities, meals on wheels, books, blogs, forums, local hospital taxi services – all based on your geographical location and cancer type, to provide you with individualised information.
Why do we need Cancer Central?
There are many businesses, charities and communities delivering great service, support and products for those affected by cancer. The challenge is that they are difficult to find in times of need. It can be frustrating to find the help required because we do not know what is available, or which words or phrases to search for. It is also hard to know if information found is accurate and up to date. This is all during a time of great challenge.
What is different about Cancer Central?

Cancer Central is being built by industry giants, leading organisations and experts as well as the sharpest minds in start-ups. Individuals and organisations are contributing to all aspects of the platform in an approach we call cominovation.

2. We are building a conversational search to help you.
Our search capability is being built with a digital assistant, nicknamed ‘Ave’, who guides you to services and support. Ave has a lot to learn because there are a lot of different questions out there, however she is growing every day. Please continue to ask her questions, even if she doesn’t know the answer yet. Your question will then be used in her training so that she can better help in future.
What is Cancer Central’s biggest challenge?
Like you, finding all the incredible businesses, charities and communities who support those affected by cancer, both local and national. If you support or know of others who do, please encourage them to register on our platform for free so that we can quickly and easily signpost to them in time of need.
What is the future of Cancer Central?
As we begin to bring information about products, services and support together, we will be able to start understanding the gaps in provision around the UK. This will enable us to assist providers with the insight and opportunity to expand into areas where their support is most needed.
Our vision is to eventually expand international and in time beyond cancer to use our platform, cominovation and community structure for other important health areas, such as Mental Health, Dementia, Alzheimer’s and Stroke.
